prtChannelDefaultPageDescLangIndex

Module: Printer-MIB

OID (symbolic): Printer-MIB::prtChannelDefaultPageDescLangIndex

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.43.14.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-write

Description: The value of prtInterpreterIndex corresponding to the Page Description Language Interpreter for this channel. This interpreter defines the default Page Description Language interpreter to be used for the print data unless the Control Language is used to select a specific interpreter (e.g., PCL, PostScript Language, auto-sense). A value of zero indicates that there is no default page description language interpreter for this channel.

NOTE: The above description has been modified from RFC 1759 for clarification.

What is prtChannelDefaultPageDescLangIndex?

This read-write value gives the prtInterpreterIndex of the default Page Description Language interpreter (e.g. PCL or PostScript) a channel will use unless the control language explicitly selects a different one, or 0 if there's no default. An admin sets this to make a given channel default to, say, PostScript instead of auto-sensing.
