swPTPBoundaryPortAnnounceInterval

Module: PTP-MIB

OID (symbolic): PTP-MIB::swPTPBoundaryPortAnnounceInterval

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.94.1.2.2.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This indicates the mean time interval between successive announce messages.

In line with the IEEE1588 protocol, the value of the announce interval will be represented as the logarithm to base 2 of this time measured in seconds. The range is 1-16, so the import value must either be 1, 2, 4, 8, or 16. If the input is not allowed, then the input should be automatically adjusted to allow the biggest and closest value.

What is swPTPBoundaryPortAnnounceInterval?

A read-write value (1-16, auto-rounded to the nearest allowed power-of-two if an invalid value is entered) setting the mean interval, as log2 seconds per IEEE 1588, between Announce messages this boundary-clock port sends. Admins shorten this to make master-clock changes detected faster, at the cost of more Announce traffic on the link.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.94.1.2.2.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PTP-MIB::swPTPBoundaryPortAnnounceInterval

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.94.1.2.2.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PTP-MIB::swPTPBoundaryPortAnnounceInterval.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.171.12.94.1.2.2.1.1.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> swPTPBoundaryPortAnnounceInterval.1
