Module: PRVT-SWITCH-MIB

OID (symbolic): PRVT-SWITCH-MIB::prvtLogNotifyFull

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.738.1.5.100.0.7

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description:

Log buffer is almost full.

What is prvtLogNotifyFull?

This trap indicates that the event logging buffer on the Privity switch is nearly full and will soon stop accepting new log entries if space is not freed. Log buffer overflow can cause loss of important diagnostic information about system events and faults. Operations teams use this notification to trigger log retrieval and archive operations before the buffer fills completely.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' PRVT-SWITCH-MIB::prvtLogNotifyFull
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.738.1.5.100.0.7

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:61069->[192.168.30.10]:162]:

  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: PRVT-SWITCH-MIB::prvtLogNotifyFull
