Description: The desired speed and duplex mode for the interface. If the selected control is not available for the interface, a value of illegal (99) is returned. If the port type does NOT support the default of autonegotiate (1), then the application will initialize the port to a valid value (e.g., 1000 (3)). Note that not all controls are available for all interfaces. For example, only 1000 (4) is available for Gigabit Ethernet interfaces.
What is configL2IfaceSpeedSet?
This OID holds the desired speed and duplex setting for a network interface (1 Mbps, 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, 1000 Mbps, etc.) on a Proxim switch. Setting it allows you to force a port to run at a specific speed or enable auto-negotiation to detect the connected device's capabilities. A network operator would change this when a port fails to link with a device unless you manually match both sides to the same speed/duplex.
