OID (symbolic): PRVT-STORM-CTL-MIB::prvtStrmCtlPortShutdown

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.738.1.5.171.1.1.1.3

Description: Set to 'false' to enable storm control functionality on this port.

What is prvtStrmCtlPortShutdown?

This TruthValue controls whether storm control is functionally enabled on a given port, but somewhat counterintuitively must be set to 'false' to actually enable storm control functionality, per its own description in the MIB. Administrators need to read this object's semantics carefully, since setting it to true would effectively disable storm control protection on that port, leaving it vulnerable to broadcast, multicast, or unknown-unicast traffic floods. To activate storm control protection on a port, an admin would set this object to false rather than assuming true enables the feature.
