prvtIsisCircPtToPtOverLAN
Module: PRVT-ISIS-MIB
OID (symbolic): PRVT-ISIS-MIB::prvtIsisCircPtToPtOverLAN
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.738.1.6.4.4.1.3.2.1.26
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: TruthValue
Access: read-create
Description: Allows a broadcast circuit to be configured to operate point-to-point over LAN procedures.
This is used in conjunction with the prvtIsisCircType object as follows.
- If prvtIsisCircType = 'ptToPt', the circuit is a standard point-point circuit, and prvtIsisCircPtToPtOverLAN is ignored.
- If prvtIsisCircType = 'broadcast' and prvtIsisCircPtToPtOverLAN is 'false', the circuit is used as a normal LAN.
- If prvtIsisCircType = 'broadcast' and prvtIsisCircPtToPtOverLAN is 'true', point-point over LAN procedures are followed.
Point-to-point over LAN procedures should only be configured when there are just two Intermediate Systems operating on the LAN.
This object follows the ReplaceOnlyWhileDisabled behavior.
What is prvtIsisCircPtToPtOverLAN?
This lets a broadcast-type circuit be configured to run point-to-point-over-LAN procedures instead of normal LAN (DIS-election) procedures; it's ignored if prvtIsisCircType is already ptToPt. It should only be used on LAN segments with exactly two Intermediate Systems, since running p2p-over-LAN procedures with more than two neighbors would break adjacency formation.
