ppmPrinterHrDeviceIndex
Module: PRINTER-PORT-MONITOR-MIB
OID (symbolic): PRINTER-PORT-MONITOR-MIB::ppmPrinterHrDeviceIndex
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2699.1.2.1.2.1.1.6
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Integer32
Access: read-only
Description: The value of 'hrDeviceIndex' in the IETF Host Resources MIB (RFC 1514/2790), or zero if not specified. This value of 'hrDeviceIndex' MAY be used for status queries for this printer if the value of 'ppmPrinterSnmpQueryEnabled' is 'true'.
Compatibility Note: The value of zero is NOT valid for 'hrDeviceIndex'. It is an out-of-band value.
If this object is zero, then monitoring applications MUST NOT attempt status queries for this printer in the IETF Host Resources MIB (RFC 1514/2790) and/or IETF Printer MIB (RFC 1759/3805).
What is ppmPrinterHrDeviceIndex?
This object links this printer to its corresponding entry in the IETF Host Resources MIB by giving the value of hrDeviceIndex, or zero if no such linkage exists. Monitoring software uses this cross-reference to fetch live status details like toner or paper errors from the Host Resources / Printer MIB, but only when ppmPrinterSnmpQueryEnabled is 'true'; a zero value tells it not to attempt status polling for this printer. For example, a value of 4 would tell a monitoring tool to query hrDeviceIndex 4 in the Host Resources MIB to check this printer's paper-out or toner-low status.
