pppBridgeRemoteToLocalLanId

Module: PPP-BRIDGE-NCP-MIB

OID (symbolic): PPP-BRIDGE-NCP-MIB::pppBridgeRemoteToLocalLanId

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.10.23.4.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: Indicates whether the remote node has indicated that it will include the LAN Identification field in transmitted packets or not. If false(1) then the field will not be transmitted, if true(2) then the field will be transmitted. The value of this object is meaningful only when the link has reached the open state (pppBridgeOperStatus is opened).

What is pppBridgeRemoteToLocalLanId?

This read-only flag shows whether the remote node has indicated it will include the LAN Identification field (RFC1220 section 6.8) in frames it sends toward the local node over this PPP link. An admin reads it to know whether inbound bridged frames should carry LAN-ID tagging, keeping in mind it's only meaningful once pppBridgeOperStatus reaches opened. For instance, true(2) tells an admin the remote entity is tagging frames with LAN identification, which the local bridge can then use to route by source LAN.
