Description: The frequency at which PIM Join/Prune messages are transmitted on this PIM interface. The default value of this object is the pimJoinPruneInterval.

What is pimInterfaceJoinPruneInterval?

This object defines how often, in seconds, the interface sends PIM Join/Prune control messages to manage multicast group membership. More frequent messages reduce latency for group changes but increase control traffic overhead; less frequent messages reduce overhead but delay group updates. An operator would adjust this to balance multicast responsiveness against bandwidth constraints on the link.
