mscTrkRemoteValidationAction

Module: Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-TrunksMIB

OID (symbolic): Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-TrunksMIB::mscTrkRemoteValidationAction

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.36.2.1.60.101.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This attribute specifies the action to be taken if there is a mismatch between the expectedRemoteNodeName attribute and the value received from the remote end. The remoteValidationAction determines the action when a value is supplied to the expectedRemoteNodeName attribute. If this attribute is provisioned to continue then upon an unsuccessful validation staging continues, otherwise, if disable is set then the Trunk does not continue to stage but, attempts to stage again after a one minute time out. All unsuccessful validation when the expectedRemoteNodeName has been set result in the generation of an alarm.

What is mscTrkRemoteValidationAction?

What happens if the remote node's staged name doesn't match mscTrkExpectedRemoteNodeName: continue(0, the default) lets staging proceed anyway, while disable(1) stops the Trunk from staging and retries after a one-minute timeout. Either way a mismatch raises an alarm, so an engineer chooses disable when wrong-neighbor connections must be actively blocked, not just logged.
