mscApsProtectionLine

Module: Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-ApsMIB

OID (symbolic): Nortel-MsCarrier-MscPassport-ApsMIB::mscApsProtectionLine

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.36.2.1.134.11.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Link

Access: read-write

Description: This attribute is a link to the Path component whose parent Sonet or Sdh component provides the Aps' protection line. A value must be defined for this component. This attribute is critical because the APS process runs on the LP associated with the protectionLine. The protection line must exist under the same Lp as the working line, and must link to a Path component under the same type of port component (Sonet or Sdh) as the protection line.

Valid workingLine and protectionLine pairs must exist. For the 1pOC12SmLrAtm, the protectionLine must be lp/n sonet/1 path/0. For other APS compatible cards, the workingLine and protectionLine pairs must use port 0 with port 1 and port 2 with port 3. For example, if the workingLine is linked to a path on port 0, then the protectionLine must be linked to a path on port 1.

Sonet APS is available on cards of type 2pOC3SmAtm2, 2pOC3MmAtm2, 4pOC3SmIrAtm, 4pOC3MmAtm, and 1pOC12SmLrAtm.

What is mscApsProtectionLine?

This read-write attribute links the Aps component to the Path component that provides its standby protection line; the APS process itself runs on the LP associated with this line, and it must be paired with the working line per the card's required port pairing. Get this link wrong and the whole protection-switching function for that SONET/SDH pair won't operate.
