Description: This attribute specifies when silence suppression is performed. It applies to both voice and modem calls. If silenceSuppression is off, silence suppression is never performed. If silenceSuppression is on, silence suppression is always performed. If silenceSuppression is congested, silence suppression is performed only when the network is congested. If silenceSuppression is slow, silence suppression begins after 10 to 20 seconds without any detected speech or modem traffic. If silenceSuppression is slowAndCongested, both the slow and congested options are applied.

What is dcmeProfileSilenceSuppression?

Specifies when silence suppression is applied to voice and modem calls under this profile: off(0) never, on(1) always, congested(2) only when the network is congested, slow(3) after 10-20 seconds without detected speech/modem traffic, or slowAndCongested(4) applying both conditions. Admins tune this to balance bandwidth savings from suppressing silence against the risk of clipped audio at the start of speech.
