apsMode

Module: Nortel-Magellan-Passport-ApsMIB

OID (symbolic): Nortel-Magellan-Passport-ApsMIB::apsMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.2.4.1.134.11.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This attribute specifies the protection mode to use. It has possible values of unidirectional and bidirectional.

The unidirectional mode allows the Aps to decide independently of the far end which channel, either working or protection, will be active for receive.

The bidirectional mode instructs the Aps to decide jointly with the far end which channel, either working or protection, will be active for receive.

Note that while an Aps Test is being run the Aps will operate in unidirectional mode, regardless of the actual provisioned mode.

What is apsMode?

This OID sets the APS protection mode: unidirectional(4), where this end decides independently which line is active for receive, or bidirectional(5), where the decision is made jointly with the far end, defaulting to unidirectional. Note per the MIB that while an APS test is running the component always operates in unidirectional mode regardless of this setting.
