Description: The total number of drop packet statistics for the LAN interface when the box encounters packet drops like Tunnel encapsulation errors, VLAN packets dropped due to QoS (classification errors, queuing errors),VLAN packets dropped due to RED, Input/Output interface is down with respect to VLAN, VLAN errors such as unrecognized VLAN id, multiple dot1q encapsulations in the packet, system errors from the time box is up. This list is only a subset of the numerous reasons for the packets to be dropped by the agent per interface
What is nnethernetDropPackets?
A read-only counter of packets dropped on this Ethernet/LAN interface for any of several reasons: tunnel encapsulation errors, QoS classification/queuing errors, RED drops, the interface being down with respect to a VLAN, unrecognized VLAN IDs, or multiple stacked dot1q tags, among other system errors since boot. A steadily climbing value signals one or more of these conditions occurring and warrants checking VLAN and QoS configuration on the interface.
