This limits the maximum number of dynamic multicast groups (channels) that can be simultaneously replicated to a given client port; a value of 0 (the recommended default) imposes no administrative limit, per ITU-T G.988 9.3.28. Admins cap it to prevent one subscriber's set-top box from requesting an excessive number of simultaneous streams and consuming disproportionate bandwidth. For example, limiting this to 2 caps a subscriber to two simultaneous picture-in-picture channels.
