Category: IPSec/VPN

Description: Defines Nokia VPN gateway enterprise MIB root and common objects for VPN appliance management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is NOKIAVPN-MIB?

NOKIAVPN-MIB is the top-level enterprise MIB module that defines the OID registration root and common object branch for Nokia's VPN gateway/security appliance product line. It does not itself carry runtime instrumentation; instead it establishes the naming hierarchy under which other Nokia VPN MIBs (such as NOKIAVPN-VPN-MIB) register their tables and scalars. As a structural module it exposes no direct hardware or software status data of its own, but it underpins monitoring of those downstream modules that do report tunnel counts, session state, and gateway health. It has an implicit dependency relationship with the other NOKIAVPN-* modules that branch from its object identifier tree. Typical deployment context is a Nokia (formerly Check Point/Nokia IPSO-based) VPN security appliance managed via an enterprise NMS alongside its sibling MIBs. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the NOKIAVPN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NOKIAVPN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia VPN gateway/security appliance

Monitoring Examples

This module contains only OID definitions (the enterprise root and object identifier branches) with no sample_objects representing runtime tables, so there is no concrete monitoring scenario to describe here honestly. An administrator would not poll this MIB directly; instead they would load it as a prerequisite so that MIB browsers and NMS tools can resolve symbolic names for objects defined in dependent modules like NOKIAVPN-VPN-MIB.
