nms553NetworkLineCoding

Module: NMS-553-MIB

OID (symbolic): NMS-553-MIB::nms553NetworkLineCoding

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.498.6.7.3.2.1.15

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This variable describes the variety of Zero Code Suppression used on the link, which in turn affects a number of its characteristics.

nms553B8ZS refers to the use of a specified pat- tern of normal bits and bipolar violations which are used to replace a sequence of eight zero bits.

nms553AMI refers to a mode wherein no zero code suppression is present and the line encoding does not solve the problem directly. In this application, the higher layer must provide data which meets or exceeds the pulse density re- quirements, such as inverting HDLC data.

What is nms553NetworkLineCoding?

Selects the zero-code suppression scheme used on this DS1 line: B8ZS (a defined pattern of bipolar violations substituted for runs of eight zero bits) or AMI (no zero-code suppression, relying on the higher layer to meet pulse-density requirements, e.g. by inverting HDLC data). The choice must match what the far end and the carrier's network expect.
