remoteSystemMgmtWarning

Module: NETWORK-APPLIANCE-MIB

OID (symbolic): NETWORK-APPLIANCE-MIB::remoteSystemMgmtWarning

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.789.0.535

Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE

Description: system remote management detected a system down event. The trap includes a string describing the specific event which triggered the trap. The string is structured in the following form: Remote Management Event: type={system_down|system_up|test|keep_alive}, severity={alert|warning|notice|normal|debug|info}, event={loss-of-heartbeat}, key=value

An example of a complete message would be: Remote Management Event: type=system_down, severity=warning, event=loss_of_heartbeat, ss=16bytes

Additional key=value items may, in the future, be appended to this message.

The events that would generate this trap would be: loss_of_heartbeat: Loss of heartbeat to the RLM.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' NETWORK-APPLIANCE-MIB::remoteSystemMgmtWarning
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.789.0.535

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public

Example snmptrapd log entry:

zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:57964->[192.168.30.10]:162]:
  DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (140879980) 16 days, 7:19:59.80
  SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: NETWORK-APPLIANCE-MIB::remoteSystemMgmtWarning

SNMPv3 example:

snmptrap -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3user -a SHA -A "AuthPass1" -x AES -X "PrivPass1" <manager> '' NETWORK-APPLIANCE-MIB::remoteSystemMgmtWarning
