ethFwdSpanningTree

Module: NETI-ETH-MIB

OID (symbolic): NETI-ETH-MIB::ethFwdSpanningTree

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2928.2.2.1.2.2.1.9

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: auto(1). If the device does not implement the spanning-tree protocol, or if exactly two interfaces are connected to the forwarding function, then it will act as if `forward(2)' has been specified. Otherwise, it will act as if `process(4)' has been specified.

forward(2). Received spanning-tree messages are broadcasted to all interfaces except the interface where the message was received. No further processing is done.

drop(3). Received spanning-tree messages are dropped without any further processing.

process(4). Received spanning-tree messages are processed according to the spanning-tree protocol.

What is ethFwdSpanningTree?

Controls how the forwarding function handles received spanning-tree BPDUs: auto(1) picks forward(2) on simple two-port links or process(4) otherwise, forward(2) blindly relays BPDUs, drop(3) discards them, and process(4) actually runs RSTP -- an admin sets process(4) explicitly on a bridge where loop prevention matters.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2928.2.2.1.2.2.1.9
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> NETI-ETH-MIB::ethFwdSpanningTree

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2928.2.2.1.2.2.1.9.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> NETI-ETH-MIB::ethFwdSpanningTree.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2928.2.2.1.2.2.1.9.1 i <value>
