agentPortSecurityViolationTrapMode

Module: NETGEAR-PORTSECURITY-PRIVATE-MIB

OID (symbolic): NETGEAR-PORTSECURITY-PRIVATE-MIB::agentPortSecurityViolationTrapMode

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.4526.11.20.1.2.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: This variable is used to enable or disable the sending of new violation traps designating when a packet with a disallowed MAC address is received on a locked port.

What is agentPortSecurityViolationTrapMode?

This read-write integer, with values enable(1) and disable(2), controls whether the switch sends an SNMP trap when a packet arrives from a disallowed MAC address on a locked port. Admins enable this so that unauthorized-device attempts trigger real-time alerts to a monitoring system rather than being silently discarded. For example, setting agentPortSecurityViolationTrapMode to enable(1) on a secured port causes a trap to fire the moment someone plugs in an unregistered laptop.
