What is nsExtendExecType?

Determines whether the extend command is invoked directly via fork-and-exec or run through a sub-shell. Admins set this to shell(2) when the configured command needs shell features like pipes or globbing that a direct exec can't provide. The default, exec(1), is used for simple standalone binaries or scripts that don't need shell interpretation.
