This read-only status shows whether a proxied IGMP group entry has actually been programmed into the switch's forwarding hardware, per the description confirming whether the group was inserted into the chip. A value of inactive despite an apparently valid group membership can indicate a hardware table is full or an entry failed to install, which would silently break multicast forwarding for that group. An admin troubleshooting a channel that hosts have joined but aren't receiving would check this object and find it stuck at inactive(2), pointing to a hardware programming failure rather than a signaling problem.
