lanOpticsAlertsEnabled

Module: LANOPTICS-ALERTS-MIB

OID (symbolic): LANOPTICS-ALERTS-MIB::lanOpticsAlertsEnabled

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.224.9.2.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: A boolean variable that defines if the agent is sending alerts (traps) or alerts are disabled due to high frequency of alerts generation (see RFC-1224), regarding this manager enabled - 1 , disabled - 0.

What is lanOpticsAlertsEnabled?

This read-write INTEGER boolean flag, per RFC-1224, indicates whether the agent is currently sending trap alerts (enabled, value 1) or has stopped sending them (disabled, value 0) because alerts were being generated too frequently. Admins check this to know whether trap-based notifications for this manager are actually reaching them, and can re-enable it after addressing whatever caused the flood. For example, if a flapping interface triggers thousands of alerts and lanOpticsAlertsEnabled drops to 0, the admin must manually reset it to 1 once the flapping is fixed to resume receiving traps.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.224.9.2.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> LANOPTICS-ALERTS-MIB::lanOpticsAlertsEnabled

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.224.9.2.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> LANOPTICS-ALERTS-MIB::lanOpticsAlertsEnabled.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.224.9.2.1.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> lanOpticsAlertsEnabled.1
