lcMcastControl

Module: LANCITY-MCNS-MIB

OID (symbolic): LANCITY-MCNS-MIB::lcMcastControl

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.482.60.7.6.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-write

Description: Action to take on receiving an IP multicast packet bound for the subscriber network. If pass(1), the CM acts as a bridge, transparently forwarding all multicast packets. If filter(2), all IP multicast packets are discarded. If igmp(3) then the CM acts as an IGMP proxy and only forwards packets whose addresses were requested by the subscriber. If trap(4) then the CM transmits IGMP queries on the subscriber side. On receiving Reports, it transmits an SNMP trap. Multicast packets are forwarded, and presumably blocked by SNMP- managed filters.

What is lcMcastControl?

Read-write policy for how the cable modem handles IP multicast traffic bound for the subscriber side: pass(1) bridges all multicast packets transparently, discard(2) drops all multicast packets, igmp(3) acts as an IGMP proxy and only forwards groups subscribers actually requested, or trap(4) additionally sends an SNMP trap whenever a subscriber's IGMP Report is seen (while still forwarding, subject to separate SNMP-managed filters).

Examples

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.482.60.7.6.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> LANCITY-MCNS-MIB::lcMcastControl

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.482.60.7.6.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> LANCITY-MCNS-MIB::lcMcastControl.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.482.60.7.6.1.1 i <value>
