This object represents the maximum age in hundredths of a second that Spanning Tree Protocol information from the network is kept before being discarded on any port. It reflects the actual timeout value the bridge is currently using to age out learned spanning tree information. An operator monitors this to ensure proper spanning tree convergence timing; if set too high, failed paths persist too long; if too low, stable paths may be prematurely forgotten.
