Module: JUNIPER-EX-MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB

OID (symbolic): JUNIPER-EX-MAC-NOTIFICATION-MIB::jnxMacNotificationsEnabled

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.40.1.7.1.1.1.5

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-only

Description: Indicates whether jnxMacChangedNotification notifications will or will not be sent when there are MAC addresses learnt or removed from the device's forwarding database. Disabling notifications does not prevent the MAC address info from being added to the jnxMacHistoryTable.

What is jnxMacNotificationsEnabled?

This indicates whether jnxMacChangedNotification traps will actually be sent when MAC addresses are learned or removed. Per the description, disabling notifications here doesn't stop MAC events from being logged to jnxMacHistoryTable, it only suppresses the trap itself, so admins can rely on history-table polling instead of traps if they set this false. An admin sets jnxMacNotificationsEnabled to false(2) to stop trap flooding during a known period of high MAC churn while still archiving events in jnxMacHistoryTable for later review.
