What is jailOutOctets?

This read-only Counter64 counts the number of octets sent by this jail, according to its source description. An admin tracks this to measure outbound bandwidth consumption per jail, which is useful for billing, quota enforcement, or spotting a jail that is unexpectedly pushing large amounts of data out. For example, a jail's jailOutOctets rising far faster than its siblings' could point to a compromised process exfiltrating data or a runaway backup job.
