interfaceTopNDataSourceIndex

Module: INTERFACETOPN-MIB

OID (symbolic): INTERFACETOPN-MIB::interfaceTopNDataSourceIndex

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.27.1.3.1.2

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Integer32

Access: read-only

Description: This object identifies the index corresponding to the dataSource for this entry.

For sorted values of variables belonging to the IF-MIB, EtherLike-MIB or TOKENRING-MIB, this value equals the ifIndex of the interface.

For sorted values of variables belonging to the RMON-MIB, this value equals the interface corresponding to the data source, pointed to by the value of etherStatsDataSource.

For sorted values of variables belonging to the BRIDGE-MIB, this value equals the interface corresponding to the bridge port, pointed to by the value of dot1dBasePortIfIndex.

What is interfaceTopNDataSourceIndex?

This read-only integer, from 1 to 2147483647, identifies the index of the data source for a given Top N report entry -- typically the ifIndex for IF-MIB, EtherLike-MIB, or TOKENRING-MIB variables, the interface behind an RMON etherStatsDataSource for RMON variables, or the bridge port via dot1dBasePortIfIndex for BRIDGE-MIB variables. Admins use it to map a ranked Top N entry back to the actual physical or logical interface it represents. For example, an admin reading a Top N report ranked by RMON etherStatsCollisions would use this index to trace an entry back to the specific interface generating the most collisions.
