cpuPercentInterruptTime

Module: INFORMANT-STD

OID (symbolic): INFORMANT-STD::cpuPercentInterruptTime

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9600.1.1.5.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Gauge32

Access: read-only

Description: % Interrupt Time is the percentage of time the processor spent receiving and servicing hardware interrupts during the sample interval. This value is an indirect indicator of the activity of devices that generate interrupts, such as the system clock, the mouse, disk drivers, data communication lines, network interface cards and other peripheral devices. These devices normally interrupt the processor when they have completed a task or require attention. Normal thread execution is suspended during interrupts. Most system clocks interrupt the processor every 10 milliseconds, creating a background of interrupt activity. This counter displays the average busy time as a percentage of the sample time.

What is cpuPercentInterruptTime?

This Gauge32 reports the percentage of time the processor spent servicing hardware interrupts during the sample interval; per the source, this is an indirect indicator of activity from interrupt-generating devices such as NICs or disk controllers, and a sustained high value can point to a device generating excessive interrupts.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9600.1.1.5.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> INFORMANT-STD::cpuPercentInterruptTime

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.9600.1.1.5.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> INFORMANT-STD::cpuPercentInterruptTime.1

Start monitoring Windows server running the SNMP Informant agent (standard disk/memory counters) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the INFORMANT-STD::cpuPercentInterruptTime OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any Windows server running the SNMP Informant agent (standard disk/memory counters) from a single console.
