mscsResourceRetryPeriodOnFailure
Module: INFORMANT-MSCS
OID (symbolic): INFORMANT-MSCS::mscsResourceRetryPeriodOnFailure
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9600.1.31.11.1.19
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Gauge32
Access: read-only
Description: The RetryPeriodOnFailure property specifies the interval of time (in milliseconds) that a resource should remain in a failed state before the Cluster service attempts to restart it.
By default, if a resource fails, it remains in the failed state until an active effort is made to locate and restart the resource. The RetryPeriodOnFailure property provides a way for resources to recover from failures automatically.
When adjusting the RetryPeriodOnFailure property: Note that the default value (0xFFFFFFFF) prevents the Cluster service from making a restart attempts; Intervals measured in minutes (multiples of 0xEA60) are recommended; Do not set the interval any lower than that specified by the RestartPeriod property.
The Cluster Service attempts to restart the resource by calling its resource DLL's Online entry point function.
What is mscsResourceRetryPeriodOnFailure?
This read-only value, in milliseconds, sets how long a failed resource sits in the failed state before the Cluster service automatically attempts to bring it back online again; the default 0xFFFFFFFF disables automatic retry entirely, requiring manual intervention. An admin who wants failed resources to self-heal would set this to a value like 5 minutes (300000 ms) rather than leaving it at the disabled default.
