igmpInterfaceProxyIfIndex
Module: IGMP-STD-MIB
OID (symbolic): IGMP-STD-MIB::igmpInterfaceProxyIfIndex
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.85.1.1.1.12
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: InterfaceIndexOrZero
Access: read-create
Description: Some devices implement a form of IGMP proxying whereby memberships learned on the interface represented by this row, cause IGMP Host Membership Reports to be sent on the interface whose ifIndex value is given by this object. Such a device would implement the igmpV2RouterMIBGroup only on its router interfaces (those interfaces with non-zero igmpInterfaceProxyIfIndex). Typically, the value of this object is 0, indicating that no proxying is being done.
What is igmpInterfaceProxyIfIndex?
A read-create value that, when non-zero, configures IGMP proxying by specifying the ifIndex of the upstream interface on which Host Membership Reports should be sent for memberships learned on this row's interface, defaulting to 0 (no proxying). IGMP proxying lets a device relay multicast group membership from a downstream interface to an upstream router interface without running full multicast routing, useful in simpler devices that need to forward IGMP joins upstream. A device proxying IGMP from a LAN interface toward its WAN uplink would set this object, on the LAN interface's row, to the ifIndex of the WAN interface.
