Module: IGMP-STD-MIB

OID (symbolic): IGMP-STD-MIB::igmpInterfaceLastMembQueryIntvl

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.85.1.1.1.15

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-create

Description: The Last Member Query Interval is the Max Response Time inserted into Group-Specific Queries sent in response to Leave Group messages, and is also the amount of time between Group-Specific Query messages. This value may be tuned to modify the leave latency of the network. A reduced value results in reduced time to detect the loss of the last member of a group. The value of this object is irrelevant if igmpInterfaceVersion is 1.

What is igmpInterfaceLastMembQueryIntvl?

A read-create value, in tenths of a second and defaulting to 10 (1 second), setting both the response time advertised in and the interval between Group-Specific Queries sent after a Leave Group message, and irrelevant when igmpInterfaceVersion is set to 1. This directly tunes how quickly the router confirms whether any other members remain in a group after receiving a leave message, so lowering it speeds up multicast leave/prune processing at the cost of more query traffic. An admin running IGMPv2 or v3 who wants faster channel-change response for IPTV subscribers might lower this value to shrink the delay between a leave message and the router confirming no members remain.
