igmpInterfaceVersion

Module: IGMP-MIB

OID (symbolic): IGMP-MIB::igmpInterfaceVersion

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.3.59.1.1.1.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-create

Description: The version of IGMP which is running on this interface. This object can be used to configure a router capable of running either value. For IGMP to function correctly, all routers on a LAN must be configured to run the same version of IGMP on that LAN.

What is igmpInterfaceVersion?

This read-create value configures which IGMP protocol version, 1 or 2, the router runs on this interface, defaulting to version2. Since all routers on the same LAN must run the same IGMP version to interoperate correctly, an admin sets this explicitly when the LAN needs a specific version rather than relying on the default. For example, if a LAN segment still has legacy IGMPv1-only hosts, an admin would set igmpInterfaceVersion to version1(1) on the router's interface for that segment to match.
