linkUp
Module: IF-MIB
OID (symbolic): IF-MIB::linkUp
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.4
Node type: NOTIFICATION-TYPE
Description:
A linkUp trap signifies that the SNMP entity, acting in an agent role, has detected that the ifOperStatus object for one of its communication links left the down state and transitioned into some other state (but not into the notPresent state). This other state is indicated by the included value of ifOperStatus.
Examples
Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' IF-MIB::linkUp snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.6.3.1.1.5.4
Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):
snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
Example snmptrapd log entry:
zoo11-linux.zoo [UDP: [192.168.30.111]:53316->[192.168.30.10]:162]: DISMAN-EVENT-MIB::sysUpTimeInstance = Timeticks: (355905604) 41 days, 4:37:36.04 SNMPv2-MIB::snmpTrapOID.0 = OID: IF-MIB::linkUp
