ifInvStackStatus
Module: IF-INVERTED-STACK-MIB
OID (symbolic): IF-INVERTED-STACK-MIB::ifInvStackStatus
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.77.1.1.1.1
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: RowStatus
Access: read-only
Description: The status of the relationship between two sub-layers.
An instance of this object exists for each instance of the ifStackStatus object, and vice versa. For example, if the variable ifStackStatus.H.L exists, then the variable ifInvStackStatus.L.H must also exist, and vice versa. In addition, the two variables always have the same value.
However, unlike ifStackStatus, the ifInvStackStatus object is NOT write-able. A network management application wishing to change a relationship between sub-layers H and L cannot do so by modifying the value of ifInvStackStatus.L.H, but must instead modify the value of ifStackStatus.H.L. After the ifStackTable is modified, the change will be reflected in this table.
What is ifInvStackStatus?
This object mirrors the standard ifStackStatus table, reporting the status of the relationship between two interface sub-layers but indexed in the opposite (lower-layer-to-higher-layer) order. It exists purely for convenient lookup — for every ifStackStatus.H.L entry there is a matching ifInvStackStatus.L.H entry with the same value — but an admin cannot change a stacking relationship by writing to this table directly; changes must go through ifStackStatus instead. If a PPP interface (higher layer, index 5) rides on a serial interface (lower layer, index 3), ifInvStackStatus.3.5 would report the same active status as ifStackStatus.5.3.
Examples
Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.77.1.1.1.1 snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> IF-INVERTED-STACK-MIB::ifInvStackStatus
Get a specific instance (index 1):
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.2.1.77.1.1.1.1.1 snmpget -v2c -c public <target> IF-INVERTED-STACK-MIB::ifInvStackStatus.1
