ieee8021SpanningTreePortState

Module: IEEE8021-SPANNING-TREE-MIB

OID (symbolic): IEEE8021-SPANNING-TREE-MIB::ieee8021SpanningTreePortState

OID (numeric): 1.3.111.2.802.1.1.3.1.2.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: The port's current state, as defined by application of the Spanning Tree Protocol. This state controls what action a port takes on reception of a frame. If the Bridge has detected a port that is malfunctioning, it will place that port into the broken(6) state. For ports that are disabled (see ieee8021SpanningTreePortEnabled), this object will have a value of disabled(1). The values disabled, blocking, listening, and broken correspond to the Clause 12 port state of 'Discarding'. The value learning corresponds to the Clause 12 port state of 'Learning'. The value forwarding corresponds to the Clause 12 port state of 'Forwarding'.

What is ieee8021SpanningTreePortState?

The port's current Spanning Tree forwarding state — disabled, blocking, listening, learning, forwarding, or broken (STP has flagged the port as malfunctioning) — the key field for confirming whether a port is actually passing traffic or being held back by STP.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.111.2.802.1.1.3.1.2.1.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> IEEE8021-SPANNING-TREE-MIB::ieee8021SpanningTreePortState

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.111.2.802.1.1.3.1.2.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> IEEE8021-SPANNING-TREE-MIB::ieee8021SpanningTreePortState.1
