ieee8021PfcLinkDelayAllowance

Module: IEEE8021-PFC-MIB

OID (symbolic): IEEE8021-PFC-MIB::ieee8021PfcLinkDelayAllowance

OID (numeric): 1.3.111.2.802.1.1.21.1.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Unsigned32

Access: read-write

Description: The allowance made for round-trip propagation delay of the link in bits.

The value of this object MUST be retained across reinitializations of the management system.

What is ieee8021PfcLinkDelayAllowance?

This object sets, in bits, the allowance made for round-trip propagation delay of the physical link when calculating Priority-based Flow Control pause timing, letting the switch compute how much buffer headroom is needed before a pause takes effect. An admin tunes this higher on longer physical links, such as long-haul fiber runs, where propagation delay is greater, ensuring PFC pause frames still prevent buffer overflow despite the extra travel time. For example, setting ieee8021PfcLinkDelayAllowance to 2048 bits accounts for the extra buffering needed on a longer cable run before the far end reacts to a PFC pause.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.111.2.802.1.1.21.1.1.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> IEEE8021-PFC-MIB::ieee8021PfcLinkDelayAllowance

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.111.2.802.1.1.21.1.1.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> IEEE8021-PFC-MIB::ieee8021PfcLinkDelayAllowance.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.111.2.802.1.1.21.1.1.1.1.1 i <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> ieee8021PfcLinkDelayAllowance.1
