Module: IBMBNA-MIB

OID (symbolic): IBMBNA-MIB::ibmBnaLocalTgLinkType

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2.5.21.1.1.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: INTEGER

Access: read-only

Description: Branch link type of this TG:

other(1) = the agent has determined the TG's branch link type to be a value other than branch uplink or branch downlink. This is the value used for a connection network TG owned by a node that implements the APPN Branch Network Architecture. uplink(2) = the TG is a branch uplink. downlink(3) = the TG is a branch downlink to an end node. downlinkToBranchNetworkNode(4) = the TG is a branch downlink to a cascaded branch network node. unknown(255) = the agent cannot determine the branch link type of the TG.

What is ibmBnaLocalTgLinkType?

This object classifies the branch link type of a local transmission group as other, an uplink, a downlink to an end node, a downlink to a cascaded branch network node, or unknown if undeterminable. Admins use this to understand the role a given TG plays in the APPN Branch Network Architecture topology, such as distinguishing an uplink toward the core network from a downlink serving branch end nodes. For example, a TG reporting downlink(3) tells the admin that link serves an end node below this branch network node, while uplink(2) indicates it heads toward the wider network.
