Description: A physical volume is a read-write disk physically attached to a computer, with a permanently assigned system wide unique identifier. They are added to a volume group with the extendvg command and removed from a volume group with the reducevg command. When added to the volume group, physical volumes are partitioned into contiguous, equal-sized units of space called physical partitions.
