ibNodeName

Module: IB-TRAP-MIB

OID (symbolic): IB-TRAP-MIB::ibNodeName

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.7779.3.1.1.1.2.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: IbNode

Access: accessible-for-notify

Description: It is the node name (node ip address) the trap occurred. This node name may or may not the same as the node sending out the trap.

What is ibNodeName?

A notification-only varbind carrying the name, typically an IP address, of the node where the alarm condition that triggered this trap actually occurred. Because this may differ from the SNMP agent that sends the trap, it lets an admin identify the true source of a problem in topologies where one device reports on behalf of others, such as a managed sub-node behind a gateway. A trap might carry ibNodeName "10.20.30.5" even though it was physically sent by a different management IP, telling the admin which device actually raised the alarm.
