This is a notification varbind carrying the identifier of the configuration or resource profile assigned to the virtual machine referenced in a virtualization-platform trap. An admin uses this to know which VM profile, defining resource limits or policies, was in effect for the VM when the event occurred. For example, a trap carrying hwVpVmProfileId of 'profile-web-tier-01' tells the admin the affected VM was running under that specific named profile.
