What is standbyIfIndex?

This value is the ifIndex of the standby (backup) physical interface belonging to the trunk that switched over, carried in a hwTrunkPortSwitch notification. Admins use it to know which physical link took over as the active path when the trunk failed over. For example, seeing standbyIfIndex 4 in a trap tells the admin traffic switched to interface 4 as the new active link.
