hwARTimeout

Module: HUAWEI-ALARM-RELIABILITY-MIB

OID (symbolic): HUAWEI-ALARM-RELIABILITY-MIB::hwARTimeout

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.141.1.3

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TimeInterval

Access: read-write

Description: This object should reflect the expected maximum round trip time for communicating with the target hosts. When a message is send to the target hosts, and response (if expected) are not received within this time period, an implementation may assume that the response will not be delivered. Note that this time interval will apply to all target host.

What is hwARTimeout?

This object defines how long the device waits for a response after sending an SNMP message to a target host before assuming the response won't arrive and triggering a retry, applied globally to all configured targets. An admin tunes this based on actual round-trip latency to the management station, since too short a timeout on a slow link causes needless retransmissions while too long a timeout delays detection of a truly lost message. For example, the default of 1500 (hundredths of a second, i.e. 15 seconds) gives the device 15 seconds to hear back before it resends an inform per hwARRetryCount.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.141.1.3
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> HUAWEI-ALARM-RELIABILITY-MIB::hwARTimeout

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.141.1.3.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HUAWEI-ALARM-RELIABILITY-MIB::hwARTimeout.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.2011.5.25.141.1.3.1 s <value>
