Description: Proxy ARP status for this VLAN interface.

What is hpnicfLswProxyArpStatus?

This setting enables or disables Proxy ARP on a specific VLAN interface, letting the device answer ARP requests on behalf of devices on other subnets so that hosts lacking a properly configured gateway can still reach remote destinations. An administrator turns this on for a VLAN interface serving legacy equipment that can't be configured with a correct default gateway, allowing that equipment to reach hosts off its own subnet as if they were local. For example, enabling proxy ARP on a VLAN interface used by older industrial equipment lets that equipment communicate with a monitoring server on a different subnet without any gateway configuration on the equipment itself.

Examples

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> HPN-ICF-LswARP-MIB::hpnicfLswProxyArpStatus

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.15.8.35.4.1.1.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HPN-ICF-LswARP-MIB::hpnicfLswProxyArpStatus.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.15.8.35.4.1.1.1.2.1 i <value>
