Module: HPN-ICF-ARP-SOURCE-SUPPRESSION-MIB

OID (symbolic): HPN-ICF-ARP-SOURCE-SUPPRESSION-MIB::hpnicfARPSourceSuppressionEnable

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.15.2.146.1.1.1

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: TruthValue

Access: read-write

Description: Enable or disable ARP source suppression function.

What is hpnicfARPSourceSuppressionEnable?

This TruthValue setting turns ARP source suppression on or off on an HPN-ICF (H3C-derived HPE Networking) device, protecting the device's ARP table and CPU by limiting how many unresolved ARP packets from one source it will keep processing, a defense against ARP-flood attacks or misbehaving hosts. A network administrator enables this in environments susceptible to ARP scanning or spoofing so a single problematic host can't overwhelm the device's ARP handling. This setting is paired with hpnicfARPSourceSuppressionLimit, which sets the exact tolerance threshold before suppression kicks in.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.15.2.146.1.1.1
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> HPN-ICF-ARP-SOURCE-SUPPRESSION-MIB::hpnicfARPSourceSuppressionEnable

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.15.2.146.1.1.1.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HPN-ICF-ARP-SOURCE-SUPPRESSION-MIB::hpnicfARPSourceSuppressionEnable.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.11.2.14.11.15.2.146.1.1.1.1 s <value>

SNMPv3 example:

snmpget -v3 -l authPriv -u snmpv3-user -a SHA -A "AuthPassword1" -x AES -X "PrivPassword1" <target> hpnicfARPSourceSuppressionEnable.1
