Description: Operational state of the ring configuration.
rmConfigError(2) indicates that the ring is not connected with both ringports of the redundancy manager, one of the ring cables is connected to another port of the redundancy manager. ringConfigError(3) is returned when somewhere in the ring a ring connection fails. anotherRM(4) indicates that another redundancy manager was detected in the same ring. In this case the redundant ring ports of these redundancy managers are blocked until only one redundancy manager remains in the ring.
Notice: rmConfigError(2) and ringConfigError(3) can only be detected by the redundancy manager if the redundancy manager is inactive.
What is hmRingRedConfigOperState?
Flags configuration problems with the ring redundancy setup: rmConfigError(2) means the redundancy manager's two ring ports aren't both properly wired into the ring, ringConfigError(3) means a break exists somewhere else in the ring, and anotherRM(4) warns that a second redundancy manager was detected on the same ring. An admin checks this after wiring up a new ring to catch cabling mistakes before they cause outages, though these errors can only be detected while the manager itself is inactive.
