Description: A list of real server status type. enabled: the real server is enabled. disabled: the real server is disabled, the loadbalance device does not assign any traffic to the real server. slowdown: the real server continues to process the existed session previously assigned to it, but the loadbalance device does not assign any new session to the real server.

What is hh3cLBRealServerStatus?

This object controls the operational status of a real server behind the load balancer, fully enabled and receiving new traffic, disabled and excluded from load balancing, or in slowdown mode where it continues serving existing sessions but receives no new ones. An administrator uses slowdown when gracefully taking a server out of rotation for maintenance without abruptly dropping active user sessions. Setting this object to slowdown(3) on a web server about to be patched lets current visitors finish their sessions while the load balancer stops sending it any new connections.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.25506.2.116.1.2.1.2
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> HH3C-LB-MIB::hh3cLBRealServerStatus

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.25506.2.116.1.2.1.2.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> HH3C-LB-MIB::hh3cLBRealServerStatus.1

Set instance 1 (SNMPv2c):

snmpset -v2c -c private <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.25506.2.116.1.2.1.2.1 i <value>

Start monitoring H3C load-balancing appliance/switch (server load balancing) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Create custom SNMP monitor using the HH3C-LB-MIB::hh3cLBRealServerStatus OID value, configure state conditions and alerts, and monitor any H3C load-balancing appliance/switch (server load balancing) from a single console.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Select an H3C load-balancing appliance/switch (server load balancing) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hh3cLBRealServerStatus into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports a list of real server status type. enabled: the real server is enabled. disabled: the real server is disabled, the loadbalance device does not assign any traffic to the real server. slowdown: the real server continues to process the existed session previously. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is anything other than 'enabled', since that indicates the condition this object reports has changed to one worth investigating. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
