This read-write value, in seconds, sets the 802.1X txPeriod constant used by the Authenticator PAE state machine to time how long it waits before retransmitting an EAP-Request/Identity frame. Admins adjust it to tune how aggressively the switch re-prompts a supplicant that hasn't responded, which matters on links with slow-booting clients or flaky cabling. For example, lowering it from the 30-second default to 10 makes the switch retry identity requests more quickly on a port with unreliable connectivity.
