If the first sample after this entry becomes valid is less than or equal to the falling threshold and this object is equal to fallingAlarm(2) or risingOrFallingAlarm(3), then a single falling alarm will be generated.

This object may not be modified if the associated hcAlarmStatus object is equal to active(1).

What is hcAlarmStartupAlarm?

This setting controls which alarm, if any, may fire immediately the first time this alarm entry becomes active: rising, falling, or both. Admins use it to decide whether an already-out-of-range condition at startup should generate an immediate alert rather than waiting for the next threshold crossing. Setting it to risingOrFallingAlarm ensures that if the monitored variable is already past either threshold the moment the alarm activates, a single alert fires right away.
