hcAlarmInterval
Module: HC-ALARM-MIB
OID (symbolic): HC-ALARM-MIB::hcAlarmInterval
OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.2.1.16.29.1.1.1.1.2
Node type: OBJECT-TYPE
Type: Integer32
Access: read-create
Description: The interval in seconds over which the data is sampled and compared with the rising and falling thresholds. When setting this variable, care should be taken in the case of deltaValue sampling - the interval should be set short enough that the sampled variable is very unlikely to increase or decrease by more than 2^63 - 1 during a single sampling interval.
This object may not be modified if the associated hcAlarmStatus object is equal to active(1).
What is hcAlarmInterval?
This is the length in seconds of the sampling interval over which the monitored variable is measured and compared against the rising and falling thresholds. Admins tune it to balance responsiveness against the risk of a delta-sampled counter changing by more than its full numeric range within one interval, and it cannot be changed while the alarm entry is active. Setting hcAlarmInterval to 300 makes the agent re-sample and re-evaluate the monitored variable every five minutes.
